"Back to the Gunks"

After more than a year of absence from climbing, John and I headed to the Gunks yesterday and joined fellow AMC climbers.  It turned out to be a nice day. Some cloudiness, but the sun made its presence.  A little chilly on the side.  Considering the out of practice, I enjoyed the  day and realized that I still love  climbing.

We took it easy and did low 5's, Belly Roll and Bunny; John led both climbs. Belly Roll is a two-pitch climb, with a big crack in the first pitch.  The second pitch was a little intimidating for me. Bunny was also a good climb, but I was too slow on it.  I wanted to try a bouldering move (reminded me of Black Fly) at the start,  just couldn't make it, so I went left side of the climb. There was also a chimmney towards the end of the pitch that looked inviting, bailed out of it.  Perhaps, another  time.  I'll see if I can go back to the move I was trying to tackle.

Timely, the other climbers arrived at the spot where we were, just as we were putting  our stuffs together. The climb day ended with a nice get together dinner at a restaurant.  (November 19, 2006)

The week after, we went  back to the Gunks and did  Black Fly (5.7) again.  John also did a 5.9 route. The weather was even better; felt like springtime:)

We look forward to another season of climbing...
