"Back to the Gunks with Sarah"
Last weekend, we brought our daughter Sarah to the Gunks climbing
wall.
We started not too early in the morning, making sure that we had
everything we needed for Sarah and for our climb. As one advice says, when you're
traveling with a baby bring everything which was what I did last weekend we were here. I
thought I overdid it. This time, I just brought the real essentials.
The chosen clmb was Rhododendron, a nice crack climb (5.6 G) ,
in the uberfall section. This area is always busy that it is hard to get a spot.
This time, it wasn't busy at all which worked well for us especially for Sarah. She
is in her stroller and we didn't have to climb to get to the belay station. John led
the climb and our friend Teresa from Connecticut did the belaying. Meanwhile, our
"petite enfant" was observing the new surrounding. She seemed to enjoy
being there.
I was looking forward to climbing, but when it started to rain, I
bailed out less than half of the climb:-( We decided to cut the climb day short and head
to town.
There'll be other weekends to go climbing.
