Climbing Route:  Andrew and Red Pillar
Location: Gunks, New York, US

Today, I felt like writing a short note about our Gunks adventure. We did two moderate climbs, Red Pillar and Andrew. Red Pillar is rated 5.5 in the new Williams book (Climbers Guide to the Shawangunks, the Trapps ) and Andrew, 5.4, one of the classics in the Gunks. Andrew is a traverse climb and Red Pillar has a pumpy move at the last part. I liked both climbs.
As usual, we captured some snapshots like the background photo of this page, taken near the top of Andrew. Fantastic views of the Gunks! John led both routes.Another AMC member joined us in Andrew and we did simultaneous climbing which hastened the ascent and prevented the leading process to be caught in the rain.(5.21.05)
