"Its so
New York"
Today, I took a bus going home from work. I sat down near the front, and from the back, I
overheard two women talking about themselves as songwriters. The sound of words
didnt register all to my ears as I was also looking out the window and hearing other
sounds in the bus. Some words I heard coming from the two women were
"struggling," "new," "snobbish," "Im
writing"
. Then, as we were approaching 86th Street and Broadway, one
of the women said that she would be getting off soon.
Suddenly, I heard another voice saying, "Excuse me, I overheard the two of you
talking. Im a songwriter myself. Ill give you my card and perhaps
"
One of the two women said, "Oh wow! thanks." And the third women said,
"Its so New York, isnt it?"
The comment gave me a smile and I thought, "Yeah." I didnt see their
faces and I didnt look to the back of the bus. I just left it, as it was, a passing
sound of an event from my usual going home from work.
